Our condo rentals are located just a short distance away from Rocky Mountain National Park, so we’re intimately familiar with the area. We’re highlighting the five best easy hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Bear Lake Loop Trail

The Bear Lake Loop Trail is one of the most popular hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park, and for a good reason. The trail is a 0.8-mile loop around the beautiful Bear Lake, which sits at an elevation of 9,475 feet. The trail is well-maintained and wheelchair accessible, making it an ideal hike for families with young children and seniors. The trail offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains, including Hallett Peak, Longs Peak, and the Continental Divide.

Sprague Lake Trail

The Sprague Lake Trail is another easy hike that is excellent for families and beginners. The trail is a 0.8-mile loop around the serene Sprague Lake. The trail is flat and well-paved, making it accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. The lake is a popular spot for fishing and picnicking, and the trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Alberta Falls Trail

Rocky Mountain National Park is home to many amazing waterfalls, but Alberta Falls Trail offers an easy hike to one of the park’s best. This 1.6-mile out-and-back hike takes you to the base of the stunning Alberta Falls. The trailhead is located at the Glacier Gorge Trailhead, and the trail is well-maintained and easy to follow. The trail winds through a beautiful forest and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Bring your camera because there are great photo opportunities on this trail.

Lily Lake Loop Trail

The Lily Lake Loop Trail is one of the park’s most popular trails. This 0.8-mile loop around the tranquil Lily Lake is perfect for a short and easy hike. Pack your fishing rods and a picnic lunch because Lily Lake is a great location for some fishing and picnicking, making it a standout among families. Interestingly, the Lily Lake area is one of the park’s newest additions; despite being established in 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park expanded in 1992 by purchasing the land that includes Lily Lake.

Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lake Trail

If you’re looking for a hike that’s a little longer than what we’ve previously covered, Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lake Trail is perfect for you. Despite the 3.6-mile distance, this hike offers a well-marked and maintained trail that is mostly flat, though there are a few steeper segments, making it the most challenging hike on our list. Take in the serene beauty of these pristine lakes on a very rewarding hike.
